Our staff endure vigorous criminal history and driving checks, have current working with children’s checks, first aid certificates and undergo car restraint training to ensure that we provide the highest quality of service possible. Cultural sensitivity and awareness is critical to successfully working with our diverse community. As approximately 25% of our staff identify as Indigenous, we are able to meet the cultural needs of our clients.

Jane completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology in 2004 and a Bachelor of Social Work graduating with honors from Sydney University in 2007. Since graduating Jane has worked in various casework and managerial roles in statutory child protection agencies in New South Wales and Queensland, specializing in Out of Home care services and working with children at risk of significant harm.  This experience provided Jane in depth knowledge into the internal processes of statutory child protection agencies and allowed her to develop an extensive knowledge and understanding of child protection dynamics, impacts of early trauma and skills in identifying and responding to to the needs of children from vulnerable environments.

In 2014 Jane founded Kids Out West. It is her vision to enable all children to access appropriate support services to help them reach their full potential. Since its conception, Kids Out West has effectively provided support to children throughout remote, regional and metropolitan New South Wales. We continue to grow our team and our ability to support children to thrive.

Shelley has been employed in the Community Services (NGO) sector for the last 10 years and has completed studies in Financial Accounting, Welfare and Business Management. Shelley has also undertaken a vast array of training specific to Out of Home Care, Trauma Informed Care, Responding to Challenging Behaviour, Early Childhood Development and Foster Carer Assessment.

Shelley is responsible for quality assurance and overseeing the day to day management and coordination of both office and field staff operations spanning from Far West / Western New South Wales into the Hunter / New England and Riverina regions. Shelley is passionate about professional service delivery and uses her practical experience as both out of home care caseworker and program coordinator to ensure the high standards of Kids Out West is maintained, specific to the needs of individual children.

Stevie has considerable experience and training working with children in Out of Home Care and has joined our team after being employed as an Out of Home Care Case Worker with a Non-Government agency for the last six years.

Through various case management roles, Stevie has strived to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people who are disadvantaged, exposed to neglect and abuse, homelessness, facing homelessness and assisting them in achieving their goals and overcome barriers.

Stevie has applied her knowledge, passion and experience to her role with Kids Out West and endeavours to maintain the highest standard of services to our referring agencies.
