As a Therapeutic Youth Worker at Kids Out West, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children and young people living in Out of Home Care. You’ll work as part of a dedicated team to provide consistent, high-quality, and compassionate day-to-day care to children and young people with high and complex needs.
Working under the guidance of Service Leaders and Service Manager, you will follow individual care and behaviour support plans to help create a safe, supportive, and stable environment for every young person in our care.

You’re someone who:
Has a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable children and young people.
Brings patience, empathy, and resilience to your work.
Can think on your feet and respond calmly to challenging situations.
Works well within a team and can follow direction from supervisors.
Is available to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends, public holidays, and sleepovers.
Is comfortable travelling for shifts across metropolitan and regional NSW.
Has previous experience working with children or young people, especially those with complex trauma or behavioural needs.
Communicates clearly, both in writing and in person, including recording daily notes and incident reports.
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 & HLTAID009 or equivalent).
A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment.
A current National Criminal History Check, issued within the last 6 months.
A current unrestricted driver's licence and access to a fully insured, reliable vehicle (P1 & P2 licences not accepted).
A willingness to be listed on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register, managed by the Office of the Children's Guardian.
A trauma-informed understanding or relevant training (preferred).
